On Nimble Feet - Chamois
size: 29 x 42 cm approx
Painting snow without or with very little white paint is always interesting! I love the snow and animals so it's a hard one to resist.
In 1907 the Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph I gifted the first Chamois to New Zealand, where conditions are perfect for these alpine antelope, with the ability to jump and run with ease over rock and steep sided slopes, Chamois are found throughout the South Island high country and some lowland forests. They are beautiful creatures, with striking markings and very sharp eyesight.
